Better Employment Rates for Jobs that Require More Preparation

As of 2015, around 83 million people were employed in jobs that require average preparation that include education, job training, and experience. That was a 68 percent increase from 49 million in 1980. The percentage was also double to the 31 percent increase in employment in positions that require below average level of preparation. Staffing services reported that jobs went up from 50 million to 65 million during the same time frame.

Wages and Employment Rates Went Up in Jobs Requiring Higher Analytical and Social Skills

From 1980 to 2015, employment generally increased by 50 percent. And job growth was higher among jobs that require a higher level of social skills. According to an employment services firm, social skills include management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Jobs that require social skills went up 83 percent. Jobs with higher levels of analytical skills went up 77 percent. These include jobs offered by an IT staffing firm. On the other hand, jobs that rely more on physical skills only went up 18 percent. Physical skills include machinery operation, tool manipulation, and manual labor.

Salaries also increased more among jobs that require analytical or social skills. The average hourly wage for analytical jobs went up from $23 to 27. Jobs that require more social skills went up from $22 to $26. Jobs that depend on physical skills only increased from $16 to $18.

Workers Require Continuous Training

People who want to qualify for priority staffing must be able to keep up with changes. They

prepare for the changes by undergoing continuous training. In order to have an edge over competitors, employees develop new skills throughout their professional career. That way they will be able to adapt faster to changes.

Job hunters need to be proactive when it comes to continuous training to get the attention of a recruitment agency. Keep in mind that even currently employed individuals are pursuing extra training to improve their job skills.

Value of Higher Education

Hiring agencies often prioritize people with a bachelor’s or associate degree. Having a degree will not only open up job opportunities but also help you grow intellectually and personally, and provide you with job-related knowledge and skills.

Job hunters should have a plan, but it should be flexible enough so that one will be able to accept offers from an IT staffing firm that strays away from the plan. A recruitment company might not have your dream job for now, but instead, have a position that suits your skills and other qualifications. With the current employment landscape, it is recommended that you should not be picky about your job, especially if you have a huge student loan debt that needs to be repaid.
